FREE FRENCHMEN
RECRUITING IN LONDON STIMULATED BY AIR RAIDS (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 14 It is understood that the transfer of the recruiting headquarters for General de Gaulle’s armies of all free Frenchmen to larger premises has already, in one week, proved a distinct success. With a larger personnel, recruits are being dealt with rapidly, and, instead of diminishing the flow, air raids have very decidedly stimulated it. Protection of Routes According to a later message from Vichy the French Minister of the Navy, Admiral Darlan, announces that the cruisers and the destroyers arrived at Dakar, French West Africa, from Toulon. This completed the first major French naval movement since the armistice. It is believed the ships have been sent to protect trade routes with Dakar, Casablanca and other ports where much-needed foodstuffs are awaiting shipment to France.
