THANKS OF BRITAIN
GIVING FOR REFUGEES LADY GALWAY GUILD (By Telegraph.--Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday Her Excellency, Lady Galway, has received a letter from Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, saying he has been asked on behalf of His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom to convey through her to the members of her committee and all helpers an expression of the most warm thanks for the generous gifts of clothing, etc., for refugees ‘which are being sent to England by the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild. The work done by so large a number of willing workers is most warmly appreciated and is regarded as one more evidence of the desire cn the part of the people of New Zealand to play their part in the common war effort.
