PETER PAN’S LETTER

J)EAR GIRLS AND BOYS, Such lovely, lovely gardens are everywhere these days, aren’t there little people ? And as Peter hurries down to the office each morning he finds fresh wonders awaitiing him everywhere. On Monday there were golden kowhai trees in bloom with their satiny, gleaming petals peeping from amongst the deep green feathery leaves; on Tuesday there were masses of white May and on Wednesday deep purple and pure white irises are blooming amongst their pale green spikes. In the Twins’ gardens are the loveliest wallflowers in bloom and Peter loves their golden brown and orange velvety petals. Then there are the Circle People’s favourites, deep gold and orange marigolds which look adorable in little earthenware jars of deep blue. But last week Peter and the Sunshine Girl went to visit the flower show and such a lovely sight they found when they entered the huge doors. Every single kind of daffodil-gold was there, with beautiful bowls of primroses and golden and blue pansies, lovely red camelias and grape hyacinths, wallflowers and In fact nearly every Spring flower imaginable. And now the Circle People are waiting for the trees to burst into their new foliage, for the river banks are gay with drifts of Spring green along the river and the basket willows are standing upright and green and fresh, but every day Peter looks anxiously at the row of poplars which are his favourites, and although there are lots and lots of little fat buds there is not a single leaf out yet. And now lots of love to you all, big ones and little ones, and the gayest adventures. From
