FIERCE BRAWL
SENSATION IN SYDNEY ONE KILLED, TWO HURT DRAMA OF UNDERWORLD (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 14, 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 14 One of the fiercest brawls, ending in the death of one man and serious injury to two others, occurred last night in the underworld area of Darlinghurst. The fight occurred in a wine saloon, when one man called another a “Hun.” The combatants continued the fight outside on the pavement, and someone either drew a dagger or a sheath-knife and inflicted terrible injuries to the throat of Allan Ferguson (36), a mechanic, who died almost immediately. His companion, Leo Costello (40), a salesman, was severely gashed in the mouth, the side of the head and parts of the body. His condition is critical.
A third man, William Irwin (39), suffered extensive cuts to the face, and his coat was ripped to ribbons. The police later detained a man. Hundreds of people witnessed the affair.
