NO SETTLEMENT

HUNTLY MINE TROUBLE MEETINGS PROCEEDING (Special to Times) HUNTLY, Friday No settlement has yet been reached in the dispute concerning the miners oi Glen Afton Collieries, and the 400 men employed at the MacDonald and Glen Afton Mines are still idle. Mr C. L. Hunter, Labour Department liaison officer, arrived from Wellington this morning and nearly all morning conferred with Mr T. Hall, secretary of the Northern Miners' Union. This afternoon the meeting between the representatives of the management and the men, with Mr Hunter as conciliator, was held but up to the time of going to press no decision had been leached. The men at the MacDonald mine went out on strike last week owing to a dispute over wet time payment, but returned to work after three days. On Wednesday of this week they went out on strike again and on Thursday the men at Glen Afton struck in sympathy.
