IMPORT REFUSED
EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT 500 GAS MASKS WANTED CITY PRECAUTIONS SCHEME (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The Customs Department has refused an application by an Auckland firm for licenses to import approximately 500 gas respirators, anti-gas clothing and spare materials for the Auckland City Council for use in the emergency precautions scheme. The respirators and clothing were required for traffic officers, auxiliary firemen and actual air raid precaution workers. The City Council has taken up the matter with the Government.
