WOMEN’S DIVISION

NGAHINAPOURI BRANCH The meeting of the Ngahinapouri branch of the Women’s Division was held in the hall recently, Miss Jamieson presiding over a good attendance.

The roll call, “Hints on economy,” was well reponded to. The competition was an article or useful garment made from waste material, of which there was a very good display, Miss Margaret Bromwich winning the competition with two pairs of baby’s bootees made of odd pieces of wool. Mrs R. S. Judson, Auckland, kindly asked for the names of any boys in camp at Papakura from this district, that she might make them welcome in Auckland. The branch decided to send a letter of congratulation to Mrs Ryburn on her appointment as vice-president of the New Zealand Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs McWhannell gave a very interesting talk on the conference which was held in Wellington last July. The members of the branch have been very busy during the month sewing and knitting for the soldiers and refugees, fifteen garments beirig made for the soldiers and thirty-three for refugees. Mrs Bromwich was busy at the exchange table The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Baker and Miss Tui Pulman.
