GUNNERS CHARGED

PAPAKURA COURT-MARTIAL | ANOTHER MAN SENTENCED | (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) j AUCKLAND, Tuesday j A court-marital sat at Papakura military camp to hear joint charges against Gunner C. W. Power and ■ Gunner M. May, both of the nonj commissioned officers’ class, Artilj lery Training Regiment. The charges were that they left their guard on August 10 without orders from their superior officers; and that they broke out of camp on August 10 when their duty required them to be in camp. Lieutenant-Colonel H. C. Glendining, D. 5.0., N.Z.S.C., was president of the court, and the judge-advocate ; was Lieutenant-Colonel F. L. G. j West, V.D. The decision of the court has to be confirmed by the officer convening the court-martial, Colonel j N. W. McD. Weir, N.Z.S.C., officer ; commanding the northern military , district, before it can be promul- ; gated. The sentence of a court-martial , which sat last week to hear charges against Gunner W. A. Inkster, of the Artillery Training Regiment, has now been promulgated. He was charged with absenting himself without leave : from June 26 to August 2, escaping j from confinement, and again being | absent without leave from August 4 jto August 20. Sentence of 56 days’ ! detention has been imposed.
