COMPENSATION FOR LAND

AREA FOR FLAX-GROWING (By Telegraph.—Press Association) PALMERSTON N.. Tuesday A special sitting of the Compensation Court began the hearing of a claim for nearly £120.000 as the price of 4565 acres of land at Moutoa. Foxton, owned by F. S. Fasten, the area having been taken by the Crown under the Public Works Act to be used for flaxgrowing as supply for the woolpack and textile industry. Mr Justice Smith is presiding and with him are Mr M. F. Bourke and Mr W. R. Birnie as assessors. The taking of evidence is proceeding.
