BIGGEST BOMBERS

THREATS BY GERMANY DEPARTURE FOR LONDON USE IN KNOCK-OUT BLOWS (United press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) BERLIN, Sept. 9 Authorised quarters in Berlin say 35 of Germany's biggest bombers departed for London shortly before midnight, carrying bombs of the heaviest calibre. German fliers report that the London fire has spread and the smoke is so thick that the bombers have difficulty in seeing targets. It is stated that the heaviest and most destructive bombs Germany possesses are being reserved for knock-out blows against special objectives. It is claimed that these bombs are capable of levelling anything within 500 yards of the explosion, which tosses bombers like boats in a wild sea even thousands of feet up.
