Excluding Mr Nishihara’s inspec- j tion party there is not a single Japanese soldier in Indo-China, includ- j ing Haiphong or elsewhere. It is stated that Prince Konoye, i General Katsuoka and Admiral . Oikawa have decided to ignore the foreign representations regarding Indo-China and pursue a strong policy. LONDON, Sept. 6 ! The Tokio correspondent of the ; American Press says that Mr Suma stated that the United States has no cause for alarm concerning the status quo of Indo-China. Mr Nishihara has been authorised to negotiate concerning peaceful processes. Mr Suma added that Japan is not replying to Mr Cordell Hull’s statement of September 4. “The United States seems to be taking a great deal of interest in Shanghai affairs,” he says. “We don’t think them very important. The question should be settled locally.”
