NO MENS TITLES

SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS COMBINED MEETING DECIDED By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday The abandonment of the Dominion men’s swimming championships for the duration of the war was decided upon by the Council of the New. Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. However, junior, intermediate and women's championships will be held at a combined meeting, the location of which has been referred to the swimming conference to be held in Wellington on Labour Day. It is likely that the Swimming Association and the Surf Life-Saving Association will confer beforehand as to the possibility of having both the combined swimming meeting and the surf championships at one place at the same time. The abandonment of the men’s championships is in line with the action taken during the last war, when junior and women’s swimming was continued and made great progress.
