UNDER CANVAS
CAMP AT CLAUDELANDS VACANCIES FOR RECRUITS After having slept on the grandstand seats for the first three nights, the members of the 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery, who are undergoing intensified training at the Claudelands Showgrounds, spent their first night under canvas last night. New floor boards were installed in all tents yesterday, and the ground had dried out sufficiently to enable the change to be made. It was stated by the officer commenting the unit, Captain F. M. Yendell, that permission had been granted to recruit men of the right type as volunteers to bring the unit up to war strength. There is a number of vacancies for men between the ages of 19 and 45. It is considered that men may desire to avail themselves of this opportunity before the first ballot under conscription is taken, probably within a few weeks. Full facilities, including tents and clothing, are available for the new recruits.
