PICNIC RACING
TOMORROW’S ATTRACTION PATRIOTIC FUNDS TO BENEFIT Arrangements b*ve been completed for the Te Awamutu Light Horse Association’s picnic meeting at the Walpa Racing club s course to-morrow, the proceeds of which are for patriotic purposes. Tho meeting is not « totalizator one. but it is Intended to run such sweepstakes as are permitted under the Gaming Act. The Act provides that nothing In It shall apply to any sweepstake organised on a racecourse provided that the total amount subscribed does not exceed £5, that Uie several contributions do not exceed flv© shillings each, and that the Whole sum contributed goes to the winner without any deduction on any account. Th*r® is nothing to prevent a voluntary contribution by the wlnneT to the worthy cause of the day. Entries are good and gre<at enthusiasm prevails among owners who are anxious to try out their mounts on an up-to-date couraa. It Is anticipated that there win be a great crowd present as the light horse Is much In vogue Ju*t now and the •port has become very popular. Colours are being lent by the Light Horse Association and will be available to owners ait the course.
