CONTINUE FOR YEARS
SINO-JAPANESE WAR SALVATIONIST’S OPINION (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday Major W. H. Smith, a Salvation Army missionary who has arrived from Korea, expresses the opinion that if it rests with the Chinese the war with Japan will not be finished for years. They would never be conquered completely. Major Smith agreed with the oft-expressed opinion that the invader would eventually be absorbed in China. Regarding a cable that the Japanese Salvation Army had decided to sever connection with London Headquarters and change the name to the Salvation Association, Major Smith said he could only draw the inference that such a change would be due to pressure. With the exception of the officer in charge of finance, the officers of the Japanese Salvation Army were Japanese. They were loyal to the principles and beliefs of the Army, which after all was international and not British or Japanese.
