TE AROHA BRANCH

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE The annual meeting of the Te Aroha branch of the Catholic Women’s League was held recently in the Catholic Hall. The retiring president, Mrs R. G. Revell, reported that during the year members of the league had taken a prominent part in patriotic work. Numbers of scarves, balaclavas and gloves had been knitted and several functions organised to raise funds for various patriotic appeals. A bridge evening had been arranged for the purpose of sending funds to the lepers and the league had been instrumental in purchasing and installing a radio in the school. Of special interest to members had been lectures given by Mrs Stuck in first aid and home nursing. The election of officers for the following year resulted as follows: President, Mrs J. O’Sullivan; honorary secretary, Mrs H. Darby; honorary treasurer, Miss K. Hogan; committee, Mesdames Fryer, Mulvihill, O’Grady, J. McCarthy, W. Fitzgerald, J. Steiner, F. Montague and Sheehan. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring officers, Mrs Revell, Mrs •Fryer and Mrs Sharkey.
