MAN FROM WHAKATANE NO ADVICE OF FATE (By Telesrraph.—Special to Times) WHAKATANE, Monday A member of the crew of the Dunvegan Castle, the armed merchantcruiser reported to have been torpedoed in the Atlantic, was Mr Maynard Canning, son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Canning, of King Street, Whakatane. Mr and Mrs Canning have so far not received advice whether their son was among the survivors. Mr Canning signed on the Dunvegan Castle for 12 months and had been engaged on voyages of convoy between Africa, America and Britain.
