REFUGEE CHILDREN
HOMES IN WAIKATO GOOD RESPONSE RECEIVED An excellent response to the appeal for suitable homes for refugee children from England has been received in the Waikato. To date offers from 358 homes to take 441 children have been received. The offers are spread over a wide territory, the biggest response coming from Hamilton. Borough, where 130 homes have offered to take 155 children. At Waitomo 44 homes have offered to take 52 children; at Raglan 36 homes, 47 children; at Huntly 42 homes, 51 children; at Morrinsville 65 homes, 82 children; at Otorohanga 13 homes, 17 children; at Kawhia 2 homes, 2 children; and at Cambridge 26 homes, 35 children.
Although it has not been determined how many children, if any, will be sent to New Zealand, the authorities desire to have all the organisation in train i'n the event of Waikato being asked to take a large number of children. Application forms may be had from the town clerk, or the Winter Show Office.
