Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, has returned from Wellington.

Mr H. Grylls (New Plymouth), is in Hamilton and is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Major-General R. Young, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., Dominion-Com-mander of the Home Guard, is visiting Auckland.

Mr J. C. Allen, who was for 21 years manager of the Stratford branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, has retired after 42 years’ service, and will live in Auckland.

Mr R. G. J. Wilson, chief clerk in the lands office, railways head office, Wellington, has received notice of his transfer on promotion to the position of chief clerk, district engineer’s office, Dunedin.

Mr S. G. McDougall, of North Otago, was .elected president of the New Zealafm Lawn Tennis Association at the annual general meeting in Wellington. He succeeds Mr A. G. Henderson, Wellington, who has retired from the office.

Mr J. J. Kingston, Auckland branch manager of the South British Insurance Company, Limited, will retire at the end of this month after 47 years’ service with the company, 30 years as manager in Auckland. For 21 years Mr Kingston has been chairman of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board.
