LOST OPPORTUNITY
TRAINING IN MUSKETRY RIFLE CLUBS AVAILABLE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, Saturday The Dannevirke Defence Rifle Club passed the following resolution:—“That the National Rifle Association draw the attention of the Government to the fact that service rifle clubs in the Dominion are available for the training in musketry of members of the home defence forces, and should be. so utilised. The Dannevirke Defence Rifle Club offers its services in this capacity.” The mover, Mr A. H. R. Gillespie, said he was very disappointed that the organisation of rifle clubs was not made use of in New Zealand’s war effort. It should have been utilised for the training of youths and others in musketry. He understood rifle clubs in Wellington had taken some steps in this direction, but the movement should be national. A wonderful opportunity was being lost for training young men to shoot.
