DROWNED IN WATER-RACE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday A child aged 14 months, Arthur Sowden, son of Mr and Mrs J. Sowden, was drowned on Saturday afternoon in a water-race on Mr G. S. Campbell’s farm at Rakeby, Ashburton, where his parents are employed. The child followed his father to a nearby shed. He was missed 10 minutes later. The muddiness of the race lengthened the search. Artificial respiration was unsuccessful.
