WIDOW’S CLAIM SUCCEEDS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Judgment for plaintiff was given in the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Northcroft in a case in which Catherine Smith (otherwise Hitches) claimed income from the estate of her deceased husband, James Smith, which she was granted so long as she remained a widow, from John William Bowden, administrator of the estate. Payments were made to plaintiff until 1934, when she went through a form of marriage at Suva with one Hitches. Later she discovered that Hitches was already married.
