VALUES LOWER

MARKET AT MORRINSVILLE FAT SHEEP CHEAPER STORE CATTLE DULL OF SALE Lower values ruled in most departments at the weekly Morrinsville stock sale yesterday when full yardings were on offer. The market for store cattle was in contrast with last week’s sale, the demand yesterday being quiet throughout. . Some 150 grown Polled Angus and Hereford bullocks from the East Coast were forward, but there was no enthusiasm and passings were not infrequent. A heavy entry of fat sheep met with a quiet sale and values fell into line with the lower rates established recently at other Waikato centres. , Although a limited number of top quality sorts sold at practically unchanged rates, other noggets were definitely cheaper. A few sold from 32s 9d to 33s 6d, but the bulk of the entry changed hands from 21s'9sl to 25s 9d. The usual butchers were not operating and this was one factor in the lower values obtained. Ewes ranged in price from 20s to 27s 9d. Store sheep, however, met with a very brisk response, special entries of hoggets and wethers proving very dear. Of one consignment of 645 wether hoggets 320 sold at 24s 2d and the remainder at 23s Id. Smaller hoggets made from 18s to 21s 3d. A consignment of wethers sold to a bid of 27s 7d. Values For Beef An average supply of beef met with only a fair demand, values for the most part being on a par with the lower rates ruling elsewhere. A few pens of light to medium bullocks i were traded from £9 10s to £ll 12s j 6d, and best quality cows were I usually knocked down from £7. 13s ! to £8 ss. ! Dairy cattle met with an indifferi ent sale compared with recent weeks. Top quality sorts, however, sold readily enough, being auctioned from £lO 10s to £l3. A good demand was shown for a fuller yarding of fat pigs, values sometimes showing an improvement.
