ROLLER MILLS SHIELD SCHOOLBOYS DO WELL % > Comments from those who saw i the Waikato primary school Rugby representatives in action in Auck- ' land in the Northern Roller Mills Shield competition indicate that the ; team played great football and was a trifle unlucky to lose the shield so meritoriously won in Hamilton last i year. Playing in the A section the : team defeated Auckland East 10—3 ' and South Auckland 9—o but lost to Auckland North by 3 points to 0. After a very close game, Auckland North carried on to win the shield comfortably. A Waikato Colts team was entered in the B section to give players likely to play in the competition next year experience, and the side made a great impression, beating Waipa by 23 points to 5, and losing to | Auckland Central 14—8, and Thames ! Valley 14—6. The players for both j teams were drawn from Hamilton, | Cambridge, Morrinsville and Lower Waikato schools. Waikato A has entered a challenge J for the Vancouver Cup at present held by the Thames Valley representatives and the match will be played at Paeroa on September 14. | The week following this game Auck- » land North will probably play Wai- j kato in Hamilton. The meeting of i this and last year’s winners of the I Roller Mills Shield should provide bright football.
