THE EMPIRE’S SAFETY

Wherein lies the safety and sovereignty of this great Empire ? Its security will never be finally shaken by foes without, even as great as Germany. Her safety can only be imperilled by the foes within. Every great empire which has fallen has gone down through the sins of its own people rather than by the sword of another. The final test of our endurance will be determined by the moral and spiritual power of our people. Faith in Almighty God and in the principles of His Kingdom will lead to the supremacy and permanence of Empire. Conquest by force seems to be uppermost at the hour. Mechanised power may seem to win for a day, but we are assured that the principles which help to mould this force are not the principles that can survive. Over against the kingdom of force we place the kingdom of faith; over against tyranny we place truth; over against the lust for power we place love; and so long as our Empire will continue to stand for faith in God, for truth and honour among men; for liberty and love for mankind, while she may seemingly lose a battle, she will survive the war and still hold a sovereign place among the nations of the world.—Moose Jaw (Saskatchewan) Times-Herald.
