Children’s Verse

THE BANJO TWINS By the side of the sea We strum the strings And sing you things, The Banjo Twins are we. The show is free, You can laugh and dance. Shout and prance, The Banjo Twins are we. (Sent by Helen Matthews.) SPRING The fields are white with daisies, The meadows green with grass, All the bees are buzzing As from flower to flower they pass. The fleeing clouds are moving Across the azure sky, And daffodils are blooming, For spring is drawing nigh. THE KITTEN AND THE BUTTERFLY What is this I see? A plaything meant for me? I’ll pat it gently—so! Oh, butterfly, don’t go! It’s gone up in the air, It isn’t playing fair— Now down it flies, hurray, It really wants to play! I’ll pounce on it—but see. It’s artful as can be, High in the air it’s flown, And I am here alone!
