GLAMOUR COW
WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD LATEST “SILLY” STUNT HOLLYWOOD, July 17 The United States, surfeited with ordinary beauty queens, have now selected a cow, called Elsie, as the nation’s “glamour cow.” Elsie has just arrived in Hollywood from New York in a special Railway car with false eye lashes, rouged lips and her nose powdered pink. She is to appear in a film. She was wearing a green blanket and a garland of buttercups. Flm stars Fay Wray, Kay Francis and Maureen O’Hara welcomed her at the station, while a band played “I kiss your hand, Madame.” Several spectators in the big crowd fainted. Kay Francis said, “I have been in pictures for 12 years but never experienced a moment like this.” Elsie was presented with a gold key to the city and was taken to the Ambassador Hotel, where milk, cheese and ice cream were served to the guests. Elsie ate grass.
