COMFORTS AND GIFTS INFORMATION BOOKLET To give a guide as to the most suitable types of gifts to be sent overseas, and how gifts and parcels should be packed so that they will reach their destination in the best possible condition, a booklet has been issued by the National Patriotic Fund Board for the wives, next-of-kin and friends of men in the three services. Apart from the two main features already referred to, the book also contains a wealth of useful information on various subjects, such as rates of pay for offiecrs and men in the three services, with details of marriage and children allowances, methods of addressing parcels for overseas, and postage rates. Standard patterns for knitting socks, mittens, gloves, scarves, Balaclavas, khaki stockings, sea boot stockings, and pullovers will be appreciated by many women, as will the recipes for fruit cake (specially selected to fill a lib tea tin), shortbread and ginger nuts, which are also contained in the booklet. Suggestions for the contents of unaddressed and addressed gift parcels will prove very helpful and with them are included information on

Customs duty, postage requirements and hints for correct and satisfactory packing. The booklet is obtainable from the zone secretaries of the 11 Provincial Patriotic Councils-
