DAIRY PRICE
FARMERS WANT INCREASE RESOLUTION AT WHATAWHATA The new season’s guaranteed dairy price payout was discussed at some length at the monthly, meeting of the Whatawhata branch of the New Zealand Union last night. Mr H. Johnstone presided over a good attendance. It was pointed out that although the producers were making sacrifices for the benefit of the New Zealand Government, and had even agreed to accept the same price this year as that fixed in 1938 provided the New Zealand Government stabilised costs, the Government of this country had deliberately increased costs. When one section of the community had had wages increased periodically it was only right that the farmers should have their pay-out under the Government's guaranteed price scheme increased from the 1938 level. The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this meeting fully supports the chairman of the Dairy Board in his request for an in the dairy pay-out commensurate with the increase in farmers’ costs.”
