INDO-CHINA MENACED
JAPANESE ENTRY FEARED DETERMINATION OF CHINA TROOPS TO BE SENT (United Pre-ss Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 29. 3.15 p.m.) CHUNGKING, Aug. 28 Wang-Ching-Hui stated that China has learned that Japan is planning to land troops in Indo-China, also to take other military action in IndoChina with a view to attacking China.
He added that China considers that the entry of Japanese forces into Indo-China on any pretext menaces Chinese territory, for which reason it would immediately in self-defence send Chinese troops to Indo-China.
Chinese troops at present near the Indo-China border have been ordered not to march across the frontier as long as the Japanese forces fail to appear in Indo-China. FRIENDSHIP FOR ITALY SINGLE-PARTY SYSTEM LEAD IN GOVERNMENT (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel, Copyright) TOKIO, August 28 The appointment is announced of the former Ambassador to Italy, Mr Toshio Shiratori, who is known to be sympathetic toward the Axis Powers, and Dr. Toshiye Saito, a former South Manchurian Railway executive, as advisers to the Japanese Foreign Office. The Japanese Prime Minister, Prince Konoye, in a policy statement this morning, said a singleparty system considered the State and the party one and the same thing. Opposition to the party was opposition to the State. The Prime Minister said that no matter how brilliant the results of the multiple-party system might have been in other countries, it was not acceptable in Japan. The Government was taking the lead in national government to assist the Throne.
