MOVE BY AXIS

TROUBLE IN BALKANS PRESSURE ON RUMANIA REVISION OF TREATIES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. CopyrHht|, (Received August 29, 2.30 p.m.) BERLIN, August 28 Count Ciano, Italian Foreign Minister, after lunching with Herr Hitler, Von Ribbentrop (Germany’s Foreign Minister), Senor Alfleri (Italian Ambassador to Germany) and General Keitel (Chief of the German High Command) left for Vienna with Ribbentrop. It is reported that they will there meet the Hungarian and Rumanian Foreign Ministers and discuss Hungary’s claims for Transylvania. Authoritative writers in London state that the meeting in Vienna will deal with Hungary’s territorial claims regarding Transylvannia. Problem Very Delicate The Giornale d’ltalia says the problem of the relations between Hungary and Rumania is delicate and complicated. This is now more so because in this zone the forces of disorder are motivated by the British, who are still active in tending to extend the war against the wishes of Italy and Germany. An Italian news agency says that political circles in Rome state that Germany and Italy cannot remain disinterested in Hun-garian-Rumanlan relations; nor can the Axis remain passive to a possible exploitation of the situation by the enemy. The agency adds that Italy and Germany will continue, by force of arms, a revision of the treaties which they wanted to realise peaceably and they now wish to see a revision of the Versailles injustices completed In the Danubian region. ns Optimism in Hungary The Times Budapest correspondent says that the conference is announced withont any comment in the Hungarian press, but official circles reiterate their adherence to the axis Powers’ policy and the closeness of their common aims. A general feeling of optimism In Hungary is again in the ascendancy, as it is thought that there cannot be any doubt that an agreement will be reached, as German prestige could not permit another deadlock between the two countries, particularly as the conference Is being held in Germany.
