MISSION QUOTA

DIOCESE COMPLIMENTED

DIFFICULTIES IN MELANESIA |

“When the final figures were shown by the Board of Missions we were found to have done rather better than I had been informed. Our total was £B2O or so (we were still £l7O behind) and our diocese was complimented instead of being scolded,” states the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, in the current issue of the Waikato Diocesan Magazine. “Now for the future: We have been able to contribute the same quota, £990 and 15 per cent as well, that is, £llOO. On the basis of the communicants in our diocese, this means 3s for each of us. Do let us ‘pull up our socks’ and get it in full. Workers have to be sent away, schools closed, and many activities slacken off. Melanesia will always be an expensive mission, and it will be years before it can be self-supporting to any appreciable degree. Let us begin now and raise our £llOO at least. It is our business during this war as during the last to keep the home fires burning and one of the best ways is to see that our mission work does not fail or cease.” Diocesan Contributions Diocesan contributions are set out in the magazine as follows: Diocese Per
