MEN OF THE SKY
COURAGE AND DARING NEW ZEALANDERS PROMINENT PEOPLE’S RECOGNITION Right from the outbreak of war New Zealand airmen have figured prominently in raids over Germany and German-occupied areas, and have brought great credit to the Dominion. Men of the stamp of “Cobber” Kain, whose brilliant career was abruptly cut short in June, have shown that New Zealand can produce airmen equal to any in the world. For alertness, courage and daring there are none to surpass them, and they have earned commendation throughout the Empire. Even the Germans have admitted a grudging admiration for their exploits. As a mark of recognition for these men of the sky who go aloft daily to fight in the cause of right and freedom, lists have been opened throughout New Zealand to raise money for the provision of fighter planes for the British Government. That opened by the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, has grown steadily during the last week and now stands at £1372 19s 9d. The most recent donations are as follows:
