RAISING OF FUNDS
SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUBS (By Telr*RTaph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday A marked falling off in the number of applications by social and sports clubs for art unions to benefit the funds of the clubs is observed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry. This is attributed, the Minister said, not so much to the enlistment of men in the Expeditionary Force and the Royal Air Force, but to the splendid and patriotic devotion of social and sports clubs to the work of raising funds for men of the New Zealand fighting forces.
“Great work has been done by many of the clubs in getting money for the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund and for funds promoted and governed by the National Patriotic Board,” said Mr Parry, “and they are deserving of high commendation for their services.”
