ASSISTANCE TO BRITAIN SINGAPORE AND MALAY (United Press Assn.— Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 23, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 22 How valuable has been the initiative of the Straits Times of Singapore in stimulating the patriotic generosity of the people of the colony is indicated by the fact that the £50,000 transmitted to the treasury on August 17 makes a total ol £400,000 contributed. The Singapore colony war fund and that of the Federated Malay States now aggregate over £500,000.
