SCHOOLBOYS’ HOCKEY TWO AUCKLAND TEAMS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Thursday A play-off was necessary in each section of the Dominion secondary schools’ hockey tournament. Two teams in each section tied, Auckland Grammar and Palmerston North, nine points, in A section, and Mount Albert and Stratford, eight points, in B section. They met in that order this afternoon to decide who would contest the final tomorrow morning. In the A section 15 minutes’ extra time was necessary before Auckland Grammar gained the lead to win the section from Stratford. These two will contest the final tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. Following were the results of yesterday’s matches:— Fifth Round. —A section: Auckland Grammar A, 7, Wellington Technical College, 1; Hamilton 7, Seddon Memorial Technical College, 0; Palmerston North High 4, Gisborne High 1. B Section: Mount Albert Grammar 4. Wairarapa High 3; Howick District High School 1, Stratford Technical High 1; Wellington College 7, Auckland Grammar B, 0. Section Finals.—A section: Auckland Grammar School A 5. Palmerston North High School 4. B Section: Mount Albert Grammar School 3, Stratford Technical High School 1. After the tournament final tomorrow morning, a representative New Zealand secondary schools’ team will oppose a team consisting of umpires and masters who have officiated during the week.
