TROTSKY’S CONDITION
SAID TO BE MOST SERIOUS CONFESSION BY ASSAILANT (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 22, 3.15 p.m.) MEXICO CITY, August 21 After an operation Trotsky’s condition is pronounced to be most serious. It is believed the assailant confessed. His real name is Jacques Mornard Vanden Dreschd, who was born at Teheran, Persia, of Belgian parents. Message From Trotsky A leading brain surgeon, Mr Walter Dandy, from the John Hopkins Hospital at Baltimore, is travelling by aeroplane to-night to attend Trotsky. He will be joined in Mexico by Dr. Harry Fiscler, a Los Angeles surgeon. Mr Joseph Cannon, secretary of the Socialist Workers’ Party at New York, said Trotsky’s last words before losing consciousness were: ‘T will not survive this attack. Stalin has finally accomplished the task he has attempted unsuccessfully before.”
