EFFICIENT SERVICE
AIR RAID WARDENS SIR J. ANDERSON’S PRAISE (OfTlclal Wireless) (Received August 22, 11.15 a.m.) RUGBY, August 21 Addressing A.R.P. warden-mem-bers of the London County Council Ambulance Service, Sir John Anderson, Minister of Home Security, expressed himself as satisfied with the working of the A.R.P. organisation in recent raids. He had personal opportunity of observing the efficiency of the service when lie visited three of the most heavily bombed areas. Great strain had been imposed on some places and there would be much greater strain before the war was finished, and the organisation must be prepared for anything. ‘‘But one thing I think you need not be prepared for, and that is any announcement such as we saw in the press this morning as having been made in Germany to the effect that they had recast entirely their civil defence organisation as a result of the intensity of the British air oper ations against military objectives in Germany,” said Sir John.
