THEFT OF GUN
STOLEN FROM COWSHED PROBATION FOR FARM HAND Convicted in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today when he appeared before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., on a charge of stealing a double-barrelled shotgun, valued at £1 10s, from K. W. Wallace, a young farmhand, Robert Harvey Bidois, was admitted to probation for two years. Senior-Sergeant A. G. McHugh said that in June Bidois was working on a farm at Te Kowhai and stole the gun, which was kept in a cowshed on an adjoining farm. He left the barrels on the road and other parts were found among his belongings. At first he denied the theft, but he later admitted it. He was at present on probation, but his employer was prepared to take him back. No damage was caused to the gun.
