SENIOR BIBLE CLASS
ST. JAMES’ METHODIST CHURCH A successful and enjoyable evening was held in St. James’ Methodist Hall, Frankton, recently, when members of the Senior Bible Class Drama Club presented the play, "The Eye of the Beholder,” by Cyril Grainger, produced by Miss Zena Peace. There was a very large and appreciative audience and the play was very enthusiastically received. The cast was as follows:—The artist, Mr Hayden George; Louise (his sister), Miss Mavis Carter; the queen, Miss Zena Peace; ladies-in-waiting, Misses Hilda Silvester, Mavis Walter, Edna Paley; Court Chamberlain, Mr Len McDonagh; the King, Mr Ted Saunders; his jester, Mr E. Hayward.
A concert programme completed the evening’s entertainment and the following items were greatly enjoyed;—Songs, Miss L. Clarke, Mrs Garland, Miss K. Treloar, Mr W. B. Williams, Mr H. Arthur and the Melody Maestros; dances, Misses A. and P. Bluett; recitations, Miss V. Nicolas, Miss Lorna Bridges, Mr Ted Saunders. The playette entitled “The Spell” was enacted by Misses E. Coulter and W. Adams. Mr Les Missen was chairman and Mrs Horton Arthur and Mr Elvin Hayward were the accompanists. FAREWELL TO SOLDIERS Following a recent chdrch service, members of St. James’ Methodist Church gathered in the S.S. Hall for a social hour, to bid farewell to two members who are leaving with the third echelon. After a short community sing, supper was served, during which Mr Roy McDonagh and Mr Albert East were called upon to accept parting gifts as tokens of esteem, together with hearty wishes for a speedy and safe return.
