ROLLER MILLS SHIELD TOURNAMENT IN AUCKLAND WAIKATO TEAM HAS WIN (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday The Roller Mills Shield competition contested by primary school teams from all parts of the Auckland Province was commenced at Eden Park today in fine weather. Waikato, holders of the Shield commenced the tourney well by a good victory. The tournament will be continued until Friday, when the final will be decided. A welcome to the teams taking part in the tournament was given by Sir Ernest Davis, in the Town Hall concert chamber yesterday morning. Sir Ernest emphasised the value of Rugby for teaching the best British attributes fairness, unselfishness and team work. After listening to a brief organ recital by Mr T. Sparling in the Town Hall, the boys returned to the concert chamber, where they were provided with refreshments. Following were the results of yesterday’s games:— A SECTION Waikato 10 (two tries by Hickton, both being converted by Waite. Auckland East 3 (penalty goal by Brewer). Auckland North 21 (tries by Gardener (2), McCarthy, Mathieson and Atkins, Coleman converting three), South Auckland 0. B SECTION Thames Valley 14 (tries by Cornes, Frisken and Buglar, Bax converting one and kicking a penalty goal), Waikato Colts 6 (two penalty goals by Adams). Auckland Central 12 (tries by Kelleway (2), Barney and Yates), Waipa 0. Following is the draw for tomorrow and Thursday:— A Section, Eden Park No. 2: Wednesday, Auckland East v. South Auckland, 2 p.m.; Auckland North v. Waikato, 3 p.m.; Thursday; Auckland East v. Auckland North, 2 p.m.; Waikato v. South Auckland, 3 p.m. B Section, Eden Park No. 3: Wednesday, Waikato Colts v. Auckland Central, 2 p.m.; Thames Valley v. Waipa, 3 p.m.; Thursday, Thames Valley v. Auckland Central, 2 p.m.; Waipa v. Waikato Colts, 3 p.m.
