PERSONAL
The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, was met by a deputation of citrus growers in Tauranga yesterday and inspected several orchards. The Minister also looked over the area of 15 acres at Mount Maunganui which has been offered .?s a gift by Mr E. C. Banks as a hospital for reutrned soldiers. Mr L. Wilson, of Auckland, was re-elected a director of Renown Collieries, Ltd., at the annual meeting yesterday. Messrs M. J. Hilder (Otorohanga), C. D. Brewer, H. Judd (Auckland) and A. J. Heavey (New Plymouth) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr R. P. Smith, of Hamilton, is visiting Wellington for a meeting of the National Council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. Professor L. M. Lipson, professor of political science and public administration, Victoria University College, Wellington, is visiting Hamilton. Mr M. J. Pripp, vice-Consul for Sweden, will leave Wellington soon on transfer to Shanghai. The Consulate will be carried on under the control of the Consul, Mr J. T. Martin. Mr A. H. Johstone, K.C., has been reappointed by the GovernorGeneral. Viscount Galway, as a member of the Auckland University College Council. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher will leave England shortly for New Zealand and Australia to arrange evangelistic campaigns in the chief centres and military camps. Mr Fletcher was formerly minister at the Beresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland. Professor F. P. Worley, professor of chemistry at Auckland University College, has been appointed chairman of the Professorial Board, to assume office on September 1, in succession to Professor J. Rutherford, professor of history. Professor Worley has also been nominated as the board’s representative on the college council.
