THE SPIDER The spider weaves his silver wire, Between the cherry and the briar, Well fastened on each hawser—heard, And then within his wheel he does, Hung on a thorny stem of rose, While fairies ride the silver ferry Between the rose-bud and the cherry. —From Gloria Ridgway.
