Although G. J. Coles and Company, Limited, Melbourne, earned £51,845 more from trading in the year ended June 30, provision for taxation increased by £50,000, leaving the net profit only £1845 higher at £257,206. Earnings, however, are still a record. Preference dividend of 8 per cent absorbed £12,000, and ordinary dividend of 17$ per cent requires £209,871. General reserve is now £320,354.
