HEADQUARTERS GROUP
SPECIAL RAILWAY UNITS OFFICERS APPOINTED A headquarters establishment has been appointed for the Railway Op- . erating Group, New Zealand Engineers, now in training at Hopu Hopu mobilisation camp for service overseas. Major A. H. Sage, M.M., commanding the 17th Railway Operating Company, has been promoted lieu-tenant-colonel and appointed to the command of the group. He was formerly in the Controller of Stores office of the Railway Department at Wellington. Other promotions and appointments as a result or Hie establishment are: Captain J. A. Ju 11, 17th Railway Operating company, promoted major and appointed to headquarters; Second-I.leuten-ant ,1. N. Nicholson, lTtli Railway operating: Company, promoted captain and appointed adjutant for tiie group; Captain G. T. Poole, 16th Railway Operating- Company promoted major and appointed to the command of the 17th Railway Operating: Company; Second-I.ieutenant R. O. Pearse, of the Fourth Reinforcements, Expeditionary Force, promoted captain and transferred to the 16th Railway Operating- Company; Second-Lieutenant D. A. Clarke, of the 16th Railway Operating- Company, promoted captain and transferred to the 17th Railway Operating: Company. In addition Sergeant G. L. Hayman, of the 17th Railway Operating Company, has been promoted second lieutenant and transferred to the 16th Railway Operating Company; and Corporal ' acling-Sergeant), J. c. chapman, or the 16th Railway Operating 1 Company, has been promoted -second lieu- ! tenant and transferred to the 17th Railway Operating Company. Other promotions are: Sapper R. o. : Brebner, 10th Railway Operating Company, to he regimental sergeant-major; Corporal w. J. H.
