DEATHS IN ENGLAND
WOMEN AND CHILDREN KILLED INDUSTRIAL AREA BOMBED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel, Copyrlgnt) LONDON, Aug. 16 Further casualties occurred when a large number of bombs hit an industrial area in the north-east. Thirteen persons were killed and 15 sent to hospital, and 30 were treated in their homes. A bomb in one street demolished two houses and killed a man, his wife and their two daughters. In the same street a widow and her married daughter were killed, but an 18-months-old baby escaped. Three houses collapsed in another street, killing a man and a woman. Four people were killed in a neighbouring village. Industrial premises were damaged in Rochester and a number of houses were destroyed, but there were no fatal casualties. One person was killed at Hastings. An attack against Portland was ineffective. Bomber Crashes on House A British bomber, after colliding with a barrage balloon cable in the south-east of England, crashed on the roof of a house, setting lire to it. The crew of the bomber and the occupants of the house, a middleaged couple, were incinerated.
