WAIKATO HUNT
MEET AT ST. PETER’S SCHOOL SPORT OVER PUKERORO I (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday ! The annual meet of the Waikato Hunt at St. Peter’s School yesterday was well aitended and was most successful. There was a large | field of riders and many spectators in cars. As the meet was held later than usual, the St. Peter’s farm country was not open for hunting owing to the lambs, but good sport was provided over the adjacent farms. The boys of the school followed the hunt on foot and were keenly interested. Before setting off the field was entertained to a hunt breakfast by the headmaster, Mr A. F. B. Broadhurst, who expressed his regret that the school farm could not be hunted over. The Master, Mr Wynn Brown, returned thanks for the hospitality extended to the hunt. The meet at St. Peter’s had become a recognised fixture to take the place of the old meet at “ Gwynnelands.” The field moved from St. Peter’s j farm and enjoyed good sport over the ; country of Messrs M. Wells, G. M. ■ Watt, J. W. Fisher, Ken. Butler, H. P. ; King and Duncan Bros. No kills ' were registered, but there were sevi eral fast runs. I There was one spill during the «' afternoon when Mrs W. Ranstead’s mount came down, the rider receiving a fracture of the leg below the knee. When hounds were called off the field and spectators were entertained to afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs J. Ranstead.
Tomorrow the hunt will be entertained to breakfast at the Masonic Hotel before leaving for an afternoon’s hunting at Pukerimu. Visitors will be present from Pakuranga, Manamarua and Waiuku.
