RAIDS ON MALTA
BOMBED BY ITALIANS BRITISH PLANE DESTROYED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received. August 16, 3.15 p.m.) ROME, August 15 It is officially stated that bombers attacked aircraft installations at Malta with complete success. Heavycalibre incendiary bombs were used and aircraft attacked. Four Hurricanes attacked the bombers, which our fighters extricated. One British plane was shot down, the pilot baling out.
