ATTACKS BY GERMANS
BATTLE OVER TILBURY OTHER TOWNS RAIDED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgnt) (Received August 16, 3.15 p.m.) BERLIN, August 15 The news agency says raiders this evening attacked military objectives on the Thames, including Sheerness, Chatham and Rochester. After a lively battle over Tilbury the Heinkels followed the river’s course, dropping bombs with deadly accuracy on important objectives. Twenty British planes were shot down in addition to one over Newcastle. Raiders also attacked Cardiff, Bristol and South Wales.
