ASSAULT CHARGES

TWO YOUTHS IN COURT Stated to be a sequel to an attack on the bailiff for Hamilton, Mr Michael McCormack, last night at Te Rapa, charges of assault were brought against two youths, Leonard Windsor Brown, aged 19, and Robert Alexander Wilson Brown, aged 18, before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, to-day. Both were represented by Mr A. L. Tompkins. Senior-Sergeant A. G. McHugh appeared for the police. On the application of Mr Tompkins, who also asked for the names to be suppressed, the two youths were remanded to appear next week. In each case bail was fixed at £25 on accuseds’ own recognisance, with two sureties of £25. They were ordered to report to the police daily. No order was made with regard to the names.
